Shocking Silence from Deepika on Project K; Here’s why

Project K is the day’s movie as the film’s first glimpse takes the internet by storm. Nag Ashwin’s vision is crystal clear in the teaser, and everyone is raving about it. In the middle of all this, what’s shocking is the absence of Deepika Padukone from the picture, as she marked absent for the film’s promotions and did not share anything about the movie on her social media profiles. As we wonder why, there’s a strong reason behind the same.

Deepika Padukone was absent from the San Diego Comic-Con due to the ongoing actors’ strike in Hollywood. The strike, led by the Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) and the Writers Guild of America (WGA), started in May 2023. The unions are protesting against unfair labor laws in Hollywood that affect actors and writers.

As a member of SAG-AFTRA, Deepika Padukone is bound by the union’s instructions not to attend any promotional events for her films or work on new projects until the strike is resolved. Therefore, she chose to stay away from the promotional event.

Project K features Prabhas as the lead, with Deepika Padukone playing the female lead. Kamal Haasan portrays the lead antagonist, while the ensemble cast also includes Amitabh Bachchan and Disha Patani in pivotal roles.
