Netizens Talk: Kushi is Poor Man’s Sakhi!

Writer-director Shiva Nirvana is a big fan of legendary filmmaker Mani Ratnam, and he has expressed it before. At the same time, he also paid a unique tribute to Mani Ratnam by penning the lyrics for the song ‘Naa Roja Nuvve,’ which references various titles of Mani Ratnam’s movies. Interestingly, after releasing the trailer for ‘Khushi,’ some netizens have drawn comparisons between the film’s storyline and Mani Ratnam’s classic ‘Sakhi,’ released in 2000.

The netizens in social media are concluding that this Kushi is poor man’s Sakhi, which is, infact, too early to comment on!

‘Sakhi’ revolves around a young couple who fall in love and marry against their families’ wishes, and their journey through various challenges in their married life. Despite the obstacles, they remain together, resulting in a happy ending.

Some viewers have noted similarities in the basic storyline of ‘Khushi’ and ‘Sakhi,’ suggesting that Shiva Nirvana may have drawn inspiration from the classic film. While ‘Khushi’ adds a religious angle and presents the story in its own way, these comparisons have led to discussions and even humorous memes online.

Ultimately, audiences will have the opportunity to experience ‘Khushi’ and determine its unique elements and differences from ‘Sakhi.’ The film will release on the 1st of September.
