It is a funny take on the recent historical news that India has successfully landed Chandrayaan on the moon, while Pakistan’s flag has a crescent moon on it. The meme uses a dialogue from the Telugu movie Akhanda, where the actor Balayya says, “Both are not the same.” The meme is not only funny but also clever because it plays on the rivalry between India and Pakistan. The implication is that India is superior to Pakistan in every way, even when it comes to space exploration.
The meme has been shared widely on social media, and it has been met with mixed reactions by some liberals, while youths are enjoying it to the core. Ultimately, whether you find the meme funny or disrespectful, it is a reminder of the power of social media to spread ideas and spark conversations, as the likes of director Harish Shankar also felt the same. “Haahhahaha mana janaala sense of humour 🙏🙏🙏🙏”, wrote Harish, after sharing the meme on his Twitter page.
In addition to the meme, there have been other jokes and memes circulating on social media about India’s moon landing, where they have praised ISRO.
