Lokesh’s Dream Project: Suriya loses hand in an accident

Lokesh Kanagaraj has undoubtedly become one of the most sought-after directors in the South Indian film industry. He is upping his game with film after film, and many actors are waiting to work with him. His track record of delivering blockbusters like “Khaidi,” “Master,” and “Vikram” has elevated his status in the industry. Now, an interesting speculation is going around in Kollywood that he planned a film with Suriya, which never saw the light.

Reportedly, the film he planned with Suriya seems to be Lokesh’s dream project, “Irumbukai Mayavi.” The story is loosely based on the 1962 DC Comics novel “The Steel Clan.” The script delves into the superhero genre with shades of negativity. The story revolves around a hero who loses a hand in an accident and replaces it with a steel hand.

Subsequently, another accident grants him a unique power that makes him completely invisible, except for his hand. He decides to use this power to fight enemies and serve his country.

This plot looks super interesting on an outer level, and imagining Suriya playing the lead role is terrific. However, Lokesh did not pursue his dream of bringing this story to reality. Lokesh Kanagaraj initially wrote this script when he was new to the industry but put it aside in search of a producer.

Now, he’s contemplating bringing this unique superhero story to life, with the possibility of Surya as the lead. We hear that Lokesh will make some key changes to tailor the script to audience preferences in the current times.

This venture into the superhero fantasy genre departs from Lokesh’s previous works, which often featured mafia backdrops. On the other hand, Lokesh is also planning a standalone story with Suriya, titled Rolex, which is a character from his cinematic universe, primarily from Vikram.
