Howz New Version Of Iconic Sirimalle Puvva?

The moment we hear the song, ‘Sirimalle Puvva’, two things flash in our mind instantly— that terrific screen presence of magnificent actress Sridevi and that magical mellifluous voice of legendary singer S Janaki. This is something that the film industry and music lovers will remember as long as this version of the Earth lasts. Can be recreated and will it impress the music lovers? 

Without any hungama and fanfare, right now a small film titled Vote has brought out a new version of Sirimalle Puvva song, with the music freshly recreated (though as it is) and singer Sunitha giving the vocals. Going by the lyrical video, one has to say that the makers also tried to show off heroine Tanvi Negi as another Sridevi, but that appeared like a cheap imitation of the original. At the same time, Sunitha did justice but it’s nowhere near the magic created by S Janaki, for which she has won the National Award too. 

In the first place, the makers shouldn’t have dared to recreate another version of Sirimalle Puvva that too by imitating Sridevi’s looks and visuals. At the same time, a rehash of the old classic with new instrumentation might have added a bit of volume, but completely recreating the song with a new voice isn’t very convincing.
