Balasubramanyam’s Unfulfilled Wish

Legendary singer SP Balasubramanyam, who passed away due to Covid, had an unfulfilled wish. Balu had ordered for the statues of his parents Sambamurthy and Sakanthulamma from sculptor Raj Kumar of East Godavari’s Kothapeta. Balu had wanted to install these statues at his ancestral house in Nellore’s Tippa Raju Vari street which he had donated to the famous Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham.

Meanwhile, SPB had also wished to have his own statue at the house. So, he had ordered for his statue from sculptor Raj Kumar. But unfortunately, even before witnessing his statue live and the installation of parents statues at his house, Balu had passed away on Sep 25, 2020 at Chennai. His last rites were performed at his farm house in Chennai.

Balu’s mother Shakuntalamma had passed away last year in Feb 2019. So, he wanted the installation of statues of his parents at his ancestral place this year. If everything was done as per the plan, the statues would have been installed in August. But destiny has a different plan. Due to Covid, he couldn’t make it and he couldn’t install the statues in August. Everyone close to him had thought that he would overcome the Covid and would fulfill his wish. He also wished to see his own statue which couldn’t be real.

Now, SPB’s son SP Charan and daughter SP Pallavi and other family members are planning to fulfill Balu’s wish.
