AR Rahman’s “Ice Cream” Reply To Ramayana Music Trolls

AR Rahman is getting trolled brutally for his music in Ramayana. Looks like he has had it enough, as he has responded to the criticism after the recently released song Mangal Rang received mixed reactions from all over.

Speaking about the criticism, Rahman said he does not expect everyone to appreciate his compositions. Quoting Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, he said, “If you want to satisfy everyone, go sell ice cream.”

Rahman explained that music requires time before reaching its final form. He revealed that he often lives with compositions for months and considers himself his own first critic before delivering any song to the makers.

Comparing certain tunes to pickles, he said some compositions become better with time. AR also adds that listeners judge a song by focusing on one aspect without understanding the creative vision. He urged people to be patient and give music time to grow on them.

Rahman has composed the music for Ramayana alongside Hollywood composer Hans Zimmer. He described the project as a massive assignment involving multiple languages, versions, and background score. Despite all this, not one track of Ramayana has become a hit, and many are blaming the makers for choosing Rahman for the job.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana. The first part is scheduled for release on November 5, 2026.
