Imran Khan Apologises, Assures He Won’t Repeat It!

Bollywood actor Imran Khan has tendered an unconditional apology to the Bombay High Court after facing criticism for participating in a protest against the SIR of electoral rolls.

He was earlier issued a ‘Leave India’ notice by the Foreigners Regional Registration Office, asking him to leave the country by October 28. The controversy began after Imran participated in a Mumbai protest on October 10, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

The actor was briefly detained by police during the demonstration. Not many know, but Imran Khan is a US citizen and holds an Overseas Citizen of India card. The High Court observed that OCI cardholders do not have the right to participate in protests.

During the hearing, Imran’s lawyer submitted an unconditional apology and an undertaking that the actor would not participate in similar protests in the future. Following this, the court extended the suspension, and now the next hearing is scheduled for December 7.

The court also suggested that Imran could consider applying for Indian citizenship if he wished to participate in political protests. Imran Khan is star hero Aamir Khan’s nephew and is going through a very lean patch in his career as of now.
