Legendary director SS Rajamouli, who has expressed his desire to create a cinematic rendition of Mahabharata, has garnered anticipation not just from the Telugu audience but from Indian cinema enthusiasts nationwide. After RRR, he is getting ready to direct Mahesh Babu, but then he gave feelers that he might take up Mahabharata afterwards. However, a recent development has stirred the Telugu audience.
Director Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, known for directing ‘The Kashmir Files’, unveiled the poster for his upcoming film titled ‘Parva,’ a three-part Mahabharata produced by his wife Pallavi Joshi. This sudden announcement has raised eyebrows in the Telugu film industry. Even before Rajamouli delves into the colossal project, Bollywood has already embarked on its own three-part Mahabharata.
Despite the uncertainties, some argue that there’s no cause for worry, considering the timeless nature of Mahabharata and Ramayana. However, if Rajamouli makes it, surely it will be on an exaggerated level, and one wonders if he would take it up now or not. However, these mythological tales can be retold endlessly, offering filmmakers the opportunity to present their unique interpretations.
Fans express concern over Bollywood gaining an early advantage over Mahabharatha, but others believe in Rajamouli’s track record, citing his ability to let his work speak for itself. Meanwhile, Rajamouli is engrossed in finalizing the script for Superstar Mahesh Babu’s upcoming film.
