Brahmanandam disappointed once again

There is no denying the fact that legendary comedian Brahmanandam is irreplaceable in Tollywood. No comedy artist in any era is a ever match to his screen presence and histrionics. Even though Brahmi is doing only age-appropriate comic roles occasionally these days, he still is a bankable name because his presence will garner good buzz for films.

As his emotional performance in Krishna Vamshi’s Ranga Marthanda and rib-tickling humour in Jathi Ratnalu were very well received by moviegoers, our directors are looking to utilise Brahmanandam with meaty characters despite his age factor. His latest film Keeda Cola also generated strong buzz for the same reason. As Tharun Bhascker is well known for designing impressive characters and extracting the best from his actors, everyone expected that Brahmi’s role in Keeda Cola would be their ticket’s worth

Unfortunately, Brahmi got a raw deal. His character was confined to a wheelchair with only a few dialogues and expressions. His role hardly created any impact and disappointed the viewers. The comedy track didn’t work out as expected and failed to evoke any laughs beyond a certain level.

Despite his age factor, Brahmanandam’s shtick and comic timing are still intact. He is carrying the same energy levels as ever. But, Tharun Bhascker didn’t give an adequate role and wasted a good opportunity. He should have taken a cue from director Anudeep who came up with a brief yet impactful character for Brahmanandam in Jathi Ratnalu.

Keeda Cola could have got a much better word of mouth if the director had been more careful and effective with his writing. It is likely to end as an average grosser at the box office.
