Placing unwavering trust in director Raju Murugan, Karthi embarked on a journey with ‘Japan,’ but faced an unexpected setback. Despite its looming global release, the film grossed an impressive 25 crores. However, the film witnessed a dip in collections now, resulting in huge criticism of Karthi’s decision to do the film.
Contrary to expectations, a surprising turn of events unfolded as ‘Jigarthanda Double X,’ a film initially lacking a substantial morning show audience, unexpectedly soared to the 50 crore mark.
This unforeseen development left Karthi grappling with an outcome he had not foreseen. The promotional campaign of Japan, marked by high-profile appearances, including the support of his elder brother Suriya failed to give the required push to the movie in Tamil.
Even in Hyderabad, Karthi dedicated four to five days for events and interviews in support of the Telugu version, yet financial gains remained elusive.
Unfortunately, the film’s fate in Tamil Nadu was sealed by its lackluster content, resulting in cancellations across numerous theaters. The movie’s only saving grace appeared to be Karthi’s mannerisms, with no other positive elements to rescue it from its downfall.
Fans are not just content with this; they are clamoring for a glimpse into the universe once again with ‘Khaidi 2.’ While Karthi is eager to oblige, the final decision rests in the hands of Lokesh Kanagaraj, causing a delay in the sequel’s realization.
