Karan Johar’s ‘Showtime’ is a star-studded series set against the backdrop of the Hindi film industry. The series explores the ongoing insider vs. outsider debate that has been a topic of discussion in Bollywood. Emraan Hashmi portrays the quintessential Bollywood superstar, while Rajeev Khandelwal plays the role of an outsider challenging his throne.
Johar has faced accusations of nepotism and bias towards industry insiders, hindering the careers of outsiders aspiring to make it big in Bollywood. So, it is interesting to see him producing this series.
Apart from Emraan Hashmi and Rajeev Khandelwal, the teaser introduces the rest of the cast, including veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah as a filmmaker in the series. Mouni Roy, Mahima Makwana, Shriya Saran, and Vijay Raaz are also featured in the teaser.
Created and written by Sumit Roy, ‘Showtime’ marks the web series debut of Bollywood star Emraan Hashmi. The series is directed by Mihir Desai and Archit Kumar, and it is produced by Karan Johar’s Dharmatic Entertainment.
‘Showtime’ is scheduled to premiere on Disney Plus Hotstar in 2024.
