Like it was revealed earlier, the biggest competitor for Prabhas Salaar at the box office came through the Hollywood film Aquaman 2, which was released on 21st December, a day before the Baahubali star’s arrival. So how is Aquaman 2 impacting and holding at the box office is a question now, and here are some numbers to give a clarity.
At the USA box office, Prabhas Salaar grossed nearly $3.7+ million with Day 1 collection and Premieres included. From the worldwide box office, the film collected nearly $19 million on the opening day. Coming to Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki, the film failed to touch the coveted million mark, as it collected nearly $903K on its first day due to the average word of mouth for the movie.
And then, the Hollywood biggie Aquaman 2 released on the same day in the USA collected $13.7 million from the USA alone, while it grossed $40.9M from the worldwide box office. While ‘Salaar Part 1 Cease Fire’ was released in 796 theatres in the USA, ‘Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom’ was released in 3706 theatres, and Dunki was screened in 686 theatres. In terms of box office collections, definitely Aquaman 2 has a huge edge over the other two Indian movies, but then, the film is not enjoying good reviews for now.
While Aquaman 2 is poised to collect $100 million by the weekend, because of the Christmas holiday season from across the globe, last week’s release Wonka is currently the box office monster as it clocked $200 million collection in its first week at the global box office.
