Netflix Bangs Double Blockbuster

Netflix is considered a streaming giant focusing only on Hindi content and Bollywood originals. But, over the last few months, the streaming giant emerged as a major player in the South market. The platform is witnessing a huge rush because of the latest release, Salaar: Part One – Ceasefire.

Prabhas starrer quickly became the top trending title on the platform within two days of its release. The film, directed by Prashanth Neel, gained significant traction in India and various countries globally. Despite mixed responses in theaters, the digital release showcased Prashanth Neel’s work, earning praise and sparking discussions on social media already.

Now, Netflix is betting high and expecting a similar response to another biggie, Animal, which is scheduled for a grand release on the 26th of January. It generates high expectations, particularly with the promise of an unedited version featuring nine minutes of additional footage.

Netflix’s strategic approach yields positive results, including a 28-day gap between theatrical and digital releases. Insider information hints at discussions between Netflix’s CEO and industry stakeholders during a visit to Hyderabad, emphasizing the platform’s commitment to delivering diverse and engaging content in Telugu.

Looking ahead to 2024, Netflix has secured rights to several highly anticipated films, with “Guntur Karam” rumored to debut in the second week of February. The Netflix slate is also filled with “Pushpa 2,” “Devara,” and “Vijay Devarakonda 12.”

Additionally, Netflix is reportedly planning a web series in Telugu. With all these, the platform will show its dominance on the market rivals Prime Video, Hotstar, Zee5, and others.
