CM To Pay 10K Fine for Blocking Road!

The High Court of Karnataka has ordered the incumbent CM of the state, Siddaramaiah to pay 10,000 rupees fine over a public nuisance case that was filed in 2022. The CM has to pay a Rs. 10K fine and attend MLA and MP special court for the next hearing on March 6th.

In 2022, Siddaramaiah, who was the opposition leader then, protested against the then CM Basavaraj Bommai over the suicide of a contractor named Santosh Patil. He and his fellow partymen blocked the road near CM’s residence as a part of the protest. The police filed an FIR and prosecuted Siddaramaiah, who later went on to become the CM of Karnataka in the 2023 assembly elections.

Siddaramaiah filed a petition to dismiss the case but the court refuted and in turn, penalized him Rs. 10,000 in fine. He is ordered to attend the MLA/MP special court as well. Alas, a CM having to pay Rs 10,000 fine over a public nuisance case doesn’t happen too often.
