All said and done, irrespective of the debates going on regarding some latest movies, audiences in top-tier cities are queuing up to the theatres of Manummel Boys and Premalu on Tuesday afternoon, as the two Telugu states are celebrating the Telugu New Year, Ugadi, holiday. That brings us to the debate, despite only fewer promotions, why Malayalam movies are getting such attention now.
Apparently one has to accept the fact that the quality of content these two films have delivered is terrific. Premalu has simple one-liners and cool comedy that strike a chord with the youth. At the same time, Manjummel Boys is a thriller that makes people sit on the edge of their seats as they are engaged in the film throughout though they know the climax already.
Despite films like Tillu Square doing superbly and the presence of Family Star as well, these two Mallu movies just grabbed their share of box office due to their own quality but nothing else.
On the other hand, after the super success of Tillu Square, the Telugu box office was relieved but then the box office is requiring a film to fuel the cinema needs of the public during the Summer holidays. With elections in May’s second week, many biggies are out of the face and that gives a good two months of window for other movies. The likes of Geethanjali Malli Vachindi are coming, and we have to see who will win now.
