Director Gunasekhar had been working on Hiranyakashyapa for a while and all of a sudden he announced a new movie Shaakuntalam from his home banner Guna Team Works. Reasons apart, it is heard that Hiranyakashyapa seems to be taking longer than expected and Guna wanted to bring on another story to life on screen.
Shakuntalam, the mythological story is part of Mahabharata’s Sakunthala and King Dushyanta’s love story. There are different versions to this part, but we do not know which caught Gunasekhar’s interest. Though Gunasekhar announced it yesterday, he is heard to have approached few top league actresses for the lead role already and the first among them is the very beautiful Pooja Hegde.
Gunasekhar reportedly met Pooja Hegde last month, while the latter restarted her part of shooting for Akhil’s Most Eligible Bachelor in Hyderabad. Pooja Hegde heard the narration of the script, but she rejected it as she does not want to do a female-oriented film now. Pooja Hegde is particular about not taking up female-oriented concepts so early in her career. Also, she had to play a mother on screen at one point and she did not want to take it up yet.
Most of the actresses know what happens if they chose to take up the lead role and responsibility, and the audience too wants Pooja Hegde to see her more in roles like Aravinda and Amulya.
Gunasekhar is back to searching for a suitable actress for the lead role and let us see who becomes Guna’s Shakuntala.
