Comparisons are swirling around the upcoming sci-fi extravaganza “Kalki 2898 AD”, starring Superstar Prabhas. The teasers and posters featuring vast stretches of desert landscape have sparked a debate – is the film a rip-off of the popular sci-fi franchise “Dune”?
A recent report by a Bollywood entertainment portal claimed that director Nag Ashwin himself dismissed these comparisons, stating that the mere presence of sand shouldn’t lead viewers to believe the films are similar. However, it is unclear whether Nag Ashwin really issued this clarification. Both “Kalki 2898 AD” and “Dune” feature desert settings as a prominent backdrop for their narratives. “Dune” is known for its sprawling deserts of Arrakis, a fictional planet. While the visual similarities are undeniable, story details and characters remain under wraps for “Kalki 2898 AD.”
Fans are eagerly waiting for more information to understand the true essence of “Kalki 2898 AD” and its narrative. However, we could say that “Dune” has a lot of Islamic and Arabian culture influence as per the content, while Kalki is full of Indian Hindu mythology.
