Telugu Netizens Feel Two Malayalam Films Are Overrated

Recently, the Telugu audience on social media platforms expressed their disappointment with two Malayalam films that gained immense popularity in Kerala and collected over ₹100 crores at the box office. The films in question are ‘Premalu’ and ‘Aavesham,’ which were highly praised during their theatrical run in Malayalam.

After the release of these films on OTT platforms, many Telugu netizens took to social media to question the hype surrounding these films. Many are wondering what made Premalu so acclaimed for all its silly comedy and routine scenes. Even Aavesham hasn’t excited many as the whole film sounds like a comedy don sequence from many Telugu films like Oosaravelli and others. They simply say these two movies are overrated.

Apart from the absence of a strong screenplay, many Telugu netizens feel that the storytelling in these films lacks brilliance and fails to engage the audience effectively. Additionally, some viewers noted that the performances in the films, while decent, did not stand out as exceptionally remarkable.

Despite their success in Kerala and the significant box office numbers, the reception of these films among Telugu audiences on OTT platforms has been mixed. All said and done, Premalu and Aavesham are blockbusters in Kerala and have a separate fanbase.
