L&T plans to exit the Hyderabad Metro project after 2026, citing the Telangana government’s free bus scheme for declining ridership. R Shankar Raman, L&T’s director, noted a shift in gender-based transportation, with women opting for buses and men turning to trains. Despite praising the initiative, Raman expressed concerns about overreliance on pollution-prone vehicles and its impact on city finances. L&T reported a 10.2 pc profit increase in Q1 2024.
