Ilaiyaraaja’s copyright strike on ‘Manjummel Boys’

A few days ago, legendary music composer Ilaiyaraaja issued a copyright notice to the makers of Coolie, starring Superstar Rajinikanth.

Ilaiyaraaja accused the makers of using his composition without seeking his permission. Now, the music composer sent a notice to team Manjummel Boys for the unauthorized use of the ‘Kanmani’ song in the film.

It is surprising to see Ilaiyaraaja acting this late, since the film completed its theatrical run much earlier. From the beginning itself, everyone knew that the film carries the famous song.

Kanmani Anbodu Kadhalan song is from the film Guna, starring Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan in the lead role.

The majority of the film was shot in the cave where team Guna also shot their film. With this relevance, team Manjummel Boys used the song Kanmani Anbodu.

Ilaiyaraaja now claims that team Manjummel Boys used his song without getting prior permission. The makers of Manjummel Boys are yet to respond to this issue.
