Kannada actor Darshan, currently in Parappana Agraharam Prison on a murder charge, has appealed to the High Court for permission to receive home-cooked food. As a trial prisoner, Darshan complained that the jail food does not suit his digestion and is causing him health issues.
In jail, he is given basic meals such as upma, rice, sambar, and buttermilk, but he finds this insufficient and has noted a significant weight loss. He reportedly lost ten kilos in the past fortnight, which he considers dangerous for his health.
Given these concerns, the court is expected to hear his application soon. Darshan, accustomed to eating meat regularly, is struggling with the prison’s policy of providing meat only twice a week. His wife, Vijayalakshmi, highlighted this issue, which was causing him additional discomfort.
Darshan was arrested in Mysuru in connection with the murder of his fan Renukaswamy.
