In the Telugu film industry, the month of Aashadam (July-August) is considered an inauspicious period, and it is common for producers and filmmakers to avoid taking up new projects or making major announcements during this time.
This deeply-rooted cultural belief has now become a factor in the highly anticipated collaboration between superstar Mahesh Babu and acclaimed director S.S. Rajamouli.
According to the latest reports, a decision on the much-talked-about Mahesh-Rajamouli film, tentatively titled SSMB29, will only be taken after the Aashadam period has passed.
The two powerhouses of Telugu cinema have been in discussions about the project, but they are mindful of the traditional superstitions surrounding this particular month.
While the pre-production for the project was almost completed, recently various leaks from the film including casting Prithviraj Sukumaran and roping Nasser as a mentor are giving a kick to fans.
After Aashadam ends, once again the makers will look at an auspicious muhurat to kick-start the movie. Meanwhile, Mahesh will not be attending the muhurat event of the movie while his wife Namrata Shirdokar will lead the show. That’s a kind of sentiment for him.
