Balakrishna As Gona Ganna Reddy?

Remember the Gona Ganna Reddy role essayed by Allu Arjun in Gunasekhar’s Rudhramadevi? Well, now efforts are on to make a full-fledged film on Gona Ganna Reddy. It is buzzed that a biopic of Gona Ganna Reddy is in discussion and the talks are in the initial stage. It is learnt that Nandamuri Balakrishna has been approached to play the lead role and Balayya is said to have given his nod for the historic role. While the details about Gona Ganna Reddy are not available much in the public domain, the makers are conducting a study into the historic role.

Balakrishna, who is currently busy with Boyapati Sreenu’s film – NBK 106 – where he will be seen in a powerful dual role, is likely to do Gona Ganna Reddy after wrapping up this film. Balakrishna is not new to mythology, folklore and historical films. Balayya did films like Gautami Putra Satakarni, NTR biopics, Sri Rama Rajyam. But Gona Ganna Reddy is going to be in a different league as it has a patriotic angle to it.

As Chiranjeevi did Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy and now set to be seen as Acharya, Balayya is also keen to do the historic role of Gona Ganna Reddy. Some directors are in consideration to wield the megaphone for this film. Once the director is finalised, the film is likely to begin the pre-production and shoot will only begin after Balayya-Boyapati’s NBK 106.
