‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ Locks October 02, 2025

Kannada superstar Rishab Shetty’s mystical thriller Kantara turned out to be a sleeper hit in 2022 after it was dubbed into multiple languages following its strong domestic success. The film offered a rare cinematic experience with a fine blend of action and mythology by exploring the ‘Man vs Nature’ concept like never before in the history of Indian cinema. It also won a national award for providing wholesome entertainment. 

Buoyed by the stupendous success, the makers of Kantara announced its prequel ‘Kantara : Chapter 1’ in 2023 with Rishab Shetty in the lead role again. While Kantara explored the Bhoota Kola festival, Chapter 1 will dive into the grandeur of the Kadamba period and the shooting formalities have been progressing at a brisk pace. Rishab has once again donned the director’s hat besides acting in the prequel. 

Today evening, the team has officially announced the release date as October 02, 2025. This is an ideal date for a mythological thriller as it coincides with Dussehra festival and ensures a long first weekend to draw massive crowd in all territories. 

B Ajaneesh Loknath, who delivered a spectacular rendition for the first part, is returning to score the music of the prequel along with cinematographer Arvind S Kashyap. The film is co-written by Anirudh Mahesh and Shanil Guru. Produced by Vijay Kiragandur of Hombale Films, Kantara A Legend: Chapter 1 will release in Kannada, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and few other languages.
