The tragic stampede during the Pushpa 2 benefit show at Sandhya Theater has sent shockwaves across the state. Given this, the Telangana cinematography minister, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, announced that no film will be permitted to hold benefit shows in the future. He expressed concerns about disruptions in law and order, mainly when such events occur in crowded urban areas.
The Minister also conveyed his condolences to the affected family and emphasized the need for stricter regulations to prevent similar tragedies.
“I am hearing that the film is earning huge revenues. I ask the film unit to compensate the deceased family with 25 lakh rupees. They should stand by them at this time,” said Komatireddy.
The stampede occurred when fans gathered at the Sandhya Theater on RTC Crossroads in Hyderabad to catch the premiere of Pushpa 2: The Rule, directed by Sukumar and starring Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna.
A woman named Revathi died during the stamped and her son is currently undergoing treatment in a critical condition. The police officials registered a case against Allu Arjun, Sandhya theatre management. The human rights commission also received a complaint with regards to the same.
