Kannada star Upendra’s futuristic sci-fi extravaganza UI: The Movie has not only been a hit in his home state of Karnataka but has also making decent impact in the Telugu states. The film has earned praise for its compelling narrative and timely message about global warming.
The growth in the film’s collections is a clear indicator of its success. The film’s day two numbers were higher than day one, and day three numbers surpassed day two’s collections. By the third day of release, it had sold over 400K tickets on the BookMyShow platform.
What’s even more impressive is the performance in the Telugu states, where Upendra’s fan base is as strong as in Karnataka. In Karnataka, additional screens have been added to accommodate the high demand. UI is one of the highest opening grossers in Karnataka in 2024.
The film’s success was celebrated at a special event in Vijayawada, where Upendra expressed his gratitude, saying, “A huge thank you to the Telugu audience for their incredible support. This film is unique, and the true stars are you. Your involvement inspires me to direct more films.”
Lahari Films and Venus Entertainers produced the project, while Allu Aravind’s Geetha Arts handled the release in the Telugu states.
