Why Keerthy Suresh Initially Rejected Mahanati

Keerthy Suresh is one of the star heroines in the movie industry who enjoys her popularity today across the nation. She recently made her debut in Hindi with the film Baby John. Interestingly, Keerthy Suresh rose to stardom with the film Mahanati, but she initially refused to do the project.

In a recent interview, Keerthy confessed that she turned down the offer to act in Mahanati after having a four-hour-long narration.

“When Nagi offered me the narration, I refused to do the project. The producers were excited that I would come on board. But, I was scared and hence refused to do the film. Swapna and Priyanka were shocked and were like, ‘What is this girl? She turned down an offer to do a Savitri amma’s biopic?!’ But I turned it down only because I was scared. Some random girl coming from somewhere and suddenly doing a biopic on a legend… What if they say I ruined it? I couldn’t think of anything else positive. I was extremely scared,” she said in the interview.

“‘I said We have to show a lot of her personal side. What if her fans don’t like it? Or if it is taken in the wrong way?’ But they were very confident. The fact that Nagi’s trust in me was more than what I had in myself was what actually drew me to do that film,” she added.

Keerthy Suresh also mentioned that many producers considered her unlucky since her debut in Tamil failed. At the same time, there were a lot of speculations in the media about her alleged relationships with co-stars which is all false. She added that there was a criticism against her since she has chosen a path which defied from everyone’s expectations.
