The Indians tasted disappointment recently when All We Imagine As Light did not get a chance for the Golden Globes. However, the hope for the Oscars is still not diminished. The 97th Academy Awards jury has revealed the list of 323 feature films eligible for this year’s Oscars. Interestingly, the Tamil film Kanguva was found to be on the list.
Suriya’s Kanguva, released amidst high expectations, failed at the box office. However, the film met the eligibility requirements for the Best Picture category. It is not just Kanguva; there are a few other Indian films on the list.
The Hindi version of Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Aadujeevitham (GOAT Life), Swatantrya Veer Savarkar, and Santosh are the Hindi films that grabbed a place on the list. The Malayalam film All We Imagine as Light was also on the list.
The voting for the nominations will begin tomorrow and ends on January 12. The Academy will announce the final nominations on January 17, 2025.
