Dil Raju’s Strategy Behind ‘Sankranthi Ki Vastunnam’

Dil Raju is one of the experienced producers and distributors in Telugu. More than being successful, he is very experienced in tackling the situations. It is why he is the go-to person for many in the film industry and he is also the pick by the government for the FDC Chairman’s post. This Sankranthi, he released all the three films and produced two of them. What surprises everyone is his allocation of limited screens to Sankranthi Ki Vastunnam and yet scoring a hit.

Dil Raju is the producer of Game Changer and Sankranthi ki Vastunnam. Global Star Ram Charan played the lead role in Game Changer, directed by Shankar. It is the first film to be released during Sankranthi. Venkatesh’s Sankranthi Ki Vastunnam is directed by Anil Ravipudi and it is the last film to release on the occasion of the festival. In between, he distributed the film Daaku Maharaaj, starring Nandamuri Balakrishna in the lead role.

Ever since the box office clash is locked, there were speculations, debates and doubts about the theatrical allocation for the three films. Ram Charan’s fans wanted a maximum of screens to be allocated for Game Changer. Balakrishna’s fans were conscious about the Mega Nandamuri clash and ensured they get the best screens. Venkatesh’s fans also hoped to not fall behind in the box-office race. However, producers Dil Raju and Naga Vamshi are on the same page and ensure a smooth release for all the movies.

Unexpectedly, Game Changer is not performing to the expectations and there is no growth for the film at the box office. Daaku Maharaaj is showing a great hold and Sankranthi ki Vastunnam emerged as a clear winner. In this scenario, a genuine situation arose where there was a scarcity of tickets for Sankranthi Ki Vastunnam.

In this context, everyone wonders about the planning of Dil Raju and how his experience has come in handy. In most of the regions, Dil Raju allocated limited screens to Sankranthi Ki Vastunnam, which could be a conscious decision. While the other two Sankranthi releases were released in at least two theatres in many towns and small cities, Sankranthi ki Vastunnam was restricted to only one theatre. With a positive talk emerging for Sankranthi Ki Vastunnam, the unavailability of tickets created a clear demand for the film. The audiences, thus, began booking tickets in advance which is a clear indication that Sankranthi Ki Vastunnam will be generating a huge revenue over the coming weekend.

Dil Raju had confidence in the film, Sankranthi Ki Vastunnam. So, he did not worry about the screen allocation and gave the desired count to other Sankranthi releases. He ensured Sankranthi Ki Vastunnam was released on decent screens wherever it was released. Even after the film gained positive talk, he did not increase the screen count immediately. However now, there is a situation that he has to allocate some theatres to Sankranthi Ki Vastunnam which he previously allocated to Game Changer.

At the moment, Sankranthi Ki Vastunnam collected an amount of 77 Cr rupees gross at the worldwide box office in two days. The film is racing towards scoring 1M$ rupees at the USA box office.

Whatever it may be, Dil Raju truly arrived for Sankranthi, and all he needs is to keep the momentum going by forgetting the bitter experience with Game Changer.
