The Telugu film industry has been the mainstay of Indian cinema in box office collections over the last few years. With pan-Indian hits like Baahubali, Pushpa, Kalki, Devara, and Pushpa 2, Tollywood has been sensational with its collections nationwide.
Even 2025 opened phenomenally to TFI as it became the highest-earning industry at the box office this month. Interestingly, Tollywood achieved this feat without any pan-India hits. While the pan-India film Game Changer became a flop, regional films Sankranthiki Vasthunnam and Daaku Maharaaj contributed the most to the industry.
According to the reports, Telugu films have collected a worldwide gross of Rs. 412.15 crore and a nett of Rs. 291.65 crore in India so far in 2025. The Hindi film industry collected a worldwide gross of just Rs. 23.5 crore and a nett of Rs. 24.95 crore in India.
The Tamil (Indian nett. 46.64 crores and worldwide gross Rs. 45.35 crores) and Malayalam (Rs. 58.55 crores worldwide gross and India nett. of Rs. 32.65 crores) film industries are also behind Tollywood. Kannada (Rs. 3.94 crore worldwide gross and Rs. 3.53 crore Indian nett.), Marathi (Rs. 1.98 crores worldwide gross and Rs. 1.75 crore India nett.) and Gujrathi (Rs. 1.92 crores worldwide gross and Rs. 1.72 India nett.) are in the last positions with negligible collections.
With many big anticipated films lined up for release later this year, Tollywood is expected to continue its winning streak in the coming months as well.
