Nayanthara criticized Dhanush in an open statement when the latter refused to give consent to use visuals from his production Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, for her docu-drama ‘Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairytale’. Dhanush moved the court filing a civil suit alleging unauthorized use of visuals. Nayanthara too filed a plea to dismiss the copyright infringement petition by Dhanush.
In the latest update, the Madra High Court dismissed Netflix and Nayanthara’s request to reject Dhanush’s copyright infringement case.
The court will further hear the proceedings on Dhanush’s request to order a stay against the documentary, during the first week of February.
Earlier, Dhanush released a statement through his legal representative, ‘Advise your client to take down the content infringing my client’s copyright over the film NAANUM ROWDY DHAAN by using the same in your client’s documentary named NAYANTHARA BEYOND THE FAIRYTALE within 24 hours, failing which my client will be forced to initiate appropriate legal action, including but not limited to seeking damages to a sum of Rs 10 crore against your client and Netflix India.’
Nayanthara also shared a post thanking Shah Rukh Khan, Chiranjeevi, Ram Charan, and other producers who allowed her to use footage from their films for her documentary and granted their consent ‘without any hesitation and delay’.
