Pooja Hegde rose to fame primarily through Telugu cinema and recently sparked controversy with her comments. During the promotion of her upcoming Hindi film, Deva, she participated in several interviews, where she stated that Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo is a Tamil film. She made this remark while discussing her success in regional cinema.
The actress’s statement has not gone down well with Telugu fans, who have been quick to criticize her on social media. Despite starting her career in Bollywood, Pooja earned her stardom and established a strong fan base in the South, particularly in the Telugu film industry. Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo is a major hit in Telugu, where Pooja even dubbed for her character.
However, her recent career trajectory has seen a decline in Telugu opportunities, leading her to take on projects in other industries. While some fans believe her comment was an innocent mistake, others argue that calling a Telugu blockbuster a Tamil film—especially when Telugu cinema is currently at the forefront of Indian cinema—is unacceptable.
Pooja Hegde is currently not working on any Telugu films, and her next two Tamil films are Jana Nayagan and Retro.
