Tollywood has become a victim of piracy once again in the recent past. Last month, we saw seen HD print of Ram Charan’s high-budget film Game Changer landing on social media just a day after its theatrical release. The leaked print has done a lot of damage to the film’s collections.
Now, the latest victim of piracy is Naga Chaitanya’s Thandel. The film’s HD pirated version landed on social media just a day after its theatrical release, like Game Changer. Concerningly, the pirated version was also screened in an APSRTC bus in Andhra Pradesh. The film’s producer Bunny Vaas was shocked by this incident and expressed his angst on social media.
Taking it to X, Bunny Vas wrote, “We have come to know from @Way2NewsTelugu that an @apsrtc bus (Service No: 3066) played a pirated version of our #Thandel. This is not only illegal and outrageous but also a blatant insult to the countless individuals who worked tirelessly to bring this film to life. The movie is the dream of artists, the director, and the producers.”
“I urge APSRTC Chairman #KonakallaNarayanaRao Garu to take strict action and set a strong example to ensure that such incidents never happen again,” he added.
Not only Thandel, but even Game Changer was also screened on a local cable TV channel in Andhra Pradesh during Pongal. Not only piracy but these illegal screenings have also become a headache for Tollywood producers.
