When Jio Hotstar was launched, the audiences were so excited. The primary reason for the excitement is that the platform offers content of multiple channels at a single place. This also includes content from HBO, Peacock, Hulu, and many more. However, there is a shocking twist which no one expected.
The audiences faced a major setback as JioHotstar reportedly decided to censor all upcoming Indian and international films and web series. This move aims to align content with Indian audience sensitivities but has sparked outrage among viewers.
Reports indicate that content from HBO, Peacock, and Hulu on Jio is now censored, with The White Lotus Season 3 facing alterations. Previously, HBO content was freely available on Jio, but users now complain about missing or modified originals.
Especially, the platform deleted an abuse reference to Buddha from the series, The White Lotus. The episode has been deleted and re-edited later. The fans are worried about the censorship of the content of projects like Game of Thrones, The Return of the Dragon and many more.
With this decision, moviegoers who preferred raw and unfiltered storytelling may now have limited access to such content.
