Pradeep Ranganathan, the hero of the ‘Return Of The Dragon’, crossed the 100 crore mark by Sunday, creating a new record as a small hero’s film. Before even entering its third week, the film had already grossed 1 million in North America. The film also outperformed Vidaamuyarchi (Pattudala) on BookMyShow’s final bookings, leaving the trade industry in shock. Despite the setback of Ajith’s film flopping, Pradeep managed to surpass him, which no one had expected. As a result, fan clubs are starting to form for Pradeep, much like those for Dhanush and Vijay Sethupathi, and local associations are being organized.

While Dragon is a hit in Telugu, it’s not yet a blockbuster. The gross could reach around ten crores, according to estimates. However, in Kollywood, Dragon is being hailed as a massive success, with industry circles buzzing about Pradeep Ranganathan’s rise. To put this success into perspective, Dhanush’s film Jabilamma Neeku Anta Kopama with decent reviews and talk couldn’t even generate substantial collections.

Another movie being produced by Mythri Productions is also generating more hype than expected. The way director Ashwath Marimuthu has blended the message of an engineering student’s life in Dragon is resonating strongly with the youth.

With no major new releases in the near future, Dragon continues to dominate the box office. Meanwhile, other recent releases in Tollywood like Ramam Raghavam, Bapu, Mazaka, and Shabdam have received lukewarm responses, allowing Dragon to maintain its dominance for another week.
