Acclaimed music composer AR Rahman has been hospitalised in the wee hours of Sunday. The 58-year-old Oscar-winning composer reportedly complained of chest and neck pain, and his family members immediately rushed him to the Apollo Hospitals in Chennai.
Doctors attending Rahman conducted a few tests, and the star music director may undergo an angiogram shortly. However, fans need not worry as ARR is expected to be discharged very soon. Apparently, Rahman recently returned from abroad. The Apollo Hospitals doctors will be issuing a bulletin on Rahman’s health. Upon hearing the news, worried fans and film industry colleagues across the world took to social media and wished him a speedy recovery.
Incidentally, Rahman’s estranged wife, Saira Banu, too, underwent surgery a few months ago. The couple announced their separation in November last year after 29 years of marriage. However, both Rahman and Saira continue to be on good terms, while speculations about a possible patch-up made headlines after Saira thanked Rahman for his support during her treatment.
Rahman’s recent albums for Chhaava and the Tamil movie Kadhalikka Neramillai have won critical acclaim. He has Ram Charan’s RC16 and Mani Ratnam-Kamal Haasan’s Thug Life coming up next.
