For the last few months, it is being widely speculated that Superstar Rajinikanth’s Coolie and Hrithik Roshan-Jr NTR’s War 2 would clash at the box office during Independence Day weekend. This would be an epic clash as both films feature big stars from various film industries. While War 2 has Hrithik and NTR, Coolie has Rajinikanth (Tamil), Upendra (Kannada), Nagarjuna (Telugu), Soubin Shahir (Malayalam) and Aamir Khan (Hindi – rumoured).
It would be one of the biggest pan-India clashes at the box office. While the rumours were intensifying, the makers of War 2 have officially announced its release date as August 14, 2025. Reacting to a fan-made video on X, the film’s production house YRF tweeted, “Must say… you have set it up brilliantly even before we have started our marketing of #War2 … there will be mayhem in cinemas on 14 August 2025, worldwide…”
Hrithik and NTR fans are elated by this confirmation and are requesting the makers to kickstart the promotional campaign soon. On the other side, there is no confirmation about Coolie’s release from the makers’ side. With War 2 confirming its arrival, it has to be seen if Coolie also joins the race during Independence Day weekend.
