Several films which released directly on OTT have managed to gain decent views, regardless of reviews and public talk. Miss India, V and Nishabdam, which started off to poor talk, have registered record views on OTT platforms and they also managed to be trending for a week or two. The latest OTT release Laxmii, which also gained negative talk, has surprisingly pulled off record-breaking views on first day of release.
According to Hotstar, the horror comedy broke the record of late actor Sushanth Singh Rajput’s last movie ‘Dil Bechara’ to emerge the biggest opening movie ever on Disney+ Hotstar VIP in just 12 hours after release.
With huge number of subscribers, thanks to IPL season, Hotstar is now available to large section of audiences. Laxmii, which released at 4:05 PM on Monday, clocked 200+ million views in 24 hours of release while Dil Bechara registered 95 million views on day-1.
Had this been calculated in terms of ticket sales, the overall collections would have been 1000+ Cr for the Akshay Kumar starrer which is an official remake of South blockbuster Kanchana.
