Pooja Hegde Opens Up About Paid Trolls

In a recent interview, Pooja Hegde revealed the dark side of being in the glamour industry. We all are aware of the paid trolls on social media which would affect the big male star movies usually. But, the fact is that the female stars are not exempted from the same. Pooja Hegde recently shared that she was subjected to massive trolling on social media and it was a paid campaign.

Often times, we ignore the fact that male actors run the industry and the films are driven by them. It is cent percent fact that the female stars also pull crowds to theatres and have a share to the film’s success. But, with the limited number of available heroines in the film industry, the competition is very tight.

The producers and directors might write scripts based on heroes but they never write a role exclusively tailor-made for heroines except for some rare cases. In such a scenario, the jealous grows up between the heroines and it could be the reason for the selected trolls and criticism. Slowly, this trend from North cinema is also venturing down South.

There will be PR agencies that run negative campaigns against the heroines by sharing trolls, memes and criticism. Most of the heroines are aware that this unhealthy trend is going around in the industry but they never talk about it in the public space.

With at least Pooja Hegde opening up on the issue, we hope more debate happens on this.
