‘Mass’ Cravings For Young Heroes In Tollywood!

The heroes in Telugu cinema are classified into a few categories. The high-range heroes are the big stars, while there are medium-range heroes and the low-range heroes. Based on the market value, the heroes are classified into these categories. However, everyone wants to get into the high-range league and often times, the mass actioners push the market of the actors. Now, the young heroes of Telugu cinema have the ‘mass’ cravings.

For instance, Siddhu Jonnalagadda, Sai Dharam Tej, Naveen Polishetty, and others proved themselves as actors in Telugu cinema. They also have a unique fan base dedicated to themselves. Interestingly, their lineup of projects showcases their tendency towards making mass-action films.

Naveen Polishetty is one hero who takes a lot of time to pick up a project, and whatever he has done so far has been a blockbuster. Now, he is looking at doing a mass-action film. He will next be seen in Anaganaga Oka Raju, which seems to have a touch of mass.

On the other hand, Siddhu who improved his market with DJ Tillu franchise wants to up his game and enter the next level. Currently, he has Jack and Telusu Kada, which are romantic dramas. However, he signed a film with director Ravikanth Perepu, with which he wants to elevate his mass appeal.

Meanwhile, Sai Dharam Tej, who has been consistently trying to elevate his mass appeal, pinned big hopes on his next movie, SYG – Sambarala Yeti Gattu. Sai Dharam Tej tested his luck in the genre but he is not able to improve his market. But with SYG, he wants to end all the uncertainties.

But, these heroes must approach this strategy with caution. Actors like Vishwaksen tried to do the same with films like Mechanic Rocky and Gangs Of Godavari but could not meet with a positive outcome. Either the approach is flawed or they are not realising that the audiences like them only in unique films and does not want to watch them in mass movies. With the big stars and well-established actors already ruling the ‘mass’ genre, to what extent will the audiences would be interested to watch them in mass movies remains suspense.
