Anurag Kashyap is often branded as a controversial filmmaker. Lately, he has been seen criticizing Bollywood to an extreme level and has shifted his focus to the South. Anurag Kashyap is acting in back-to-back movies in South and has made some objectionable comments recently. About a controversy associated with the Hindi film Phule, Anurag Kashyap commented that “he will pee on Brahmins.”
Following this controversial statement, Anurag Kashyap received a severe backlash. Hence, he issued an apology now.
“This is my apology, not for my post but for that one line taken out of context and the brewing hatred. No action or speech is worth your daughter, family, friends and colleagues getting rape and death threats from the kingpins of sanskar (tradition),” he wrote on Instagram.
Anurag Kashyap stated that his daughter, family members and colleagues were getting rape threats following his statements about casteism in India.
Anurag Kashyap’s apology has come following a complaint filed in Indore. A person named Anoop Shukla filed a complaint in Indore, which the police officials accepted. Advocate Ashish Rai also filed a complaint and demanded action against Anurag Kashyap from the Mumbai Police Commissioner.
On the work front, Anurag Kashyap will next be seen in the Telugu film Dacoit, starring Adivi Sesh in the lead role.
