Rajamouli’s ‘Mahabharata’ Dream Takes Off… Without Rajamouli!

There is no director in Indian cinema who is better suited and equipped to handle Hindu mythological action epic Mahabharata than SS Rajamouli. In fact, Rajamouli himself had stated that he would like to work on a five part, Mahabharatha film franchise. He stated that this would be his last piece of work, and he already has an imaginary plan in mind.

However, the latest developments are suggesting that this dream project of Rajamouli is materialising elsewhere and it does not even involve the man Rajamouli himself. 

Bollywood star Aamir Khan opened up in an interview about his upcoming production venture, which is based on Mahabharata. He revealed that this mega project will start production this year and it will be shot on a massive canvas.

Amir primarily communicated that multiple directors will be associated with this project, which is ultimately going to be shot in multiple parts. He revealed that all the parts will start the shooting simultaneously, and they will be conceived and executed on a grand scale.

Aamir is going to produce this multi-level project and he says the casting will be done based on the appropriate characters and actors similarities. Considering the massive production and the credibility of Aamir, we can expect some of the finance actors in the country to be a part of this mega project. 

The point that must be noted here is that if this project is successfully executed and delivered on a splendid note, then it could potentially eat away the prospect that would otherwise be potentially fruitful for Rajamouli who himself dreams of times project. 

There is no debating the fact that no other Indian director can match the vision or execution of Rajamouli, but one factor that will play crucial role here is that the first market mover advantage will be with this Aamir production. This is entirely due to the fact that this project is likely to be executed prior to Rajamouli’s dreamy Mahabharata.
