After working for almost three years, Game Changer has turned out to be one of the biggest failures in Ram Charan’s career. He and producer Dil Raju trusted director Shankar completely, but the result was both a financial and emotional setback.
Most people know that the original story idea for Game Changer came from director Karthik Subbaraj. Before the movie’s release, he proudly said it was a big honor to give a story to a legendary director like Shankar.
But now, while promoting his new film Retro (releasing on May 1), Karthik is saying something different. He says he only gave a basic one-line idea — about a grounded IAS officer — and that the script later changed a lot with the help of other writers. He also said that box office results are not in anyone’s control, and that filmmakers have to accept audience opinions.
Fans noticed this sudden change in his words. They are questioning why he didn’t say this before the film released. He earlier claimed the story was his, but after the flop, he is stepping back — and that hasn’t gone down well with Mega fans.
It’s also true that Shankar had full control over the film. Some reports say even producer Dil Raju wasn’t fully involved in the later stages. So maybe Karthik didn’t know how much his idea changed.
