Star or Actor: What’s BSS Choice & Why!

Actor Bellamkonda Sai Srinivas has admitted that he always wanted to be called as an “actor” rather than a “star” in Tollywood. Listing out the movies that shaped his subconscious – ‘Cast Away’ (2000), ‘Shawshank Redemption’ (1994), ‘The Pursuit of Happyness’ (2006), ‘Forrest Gump’ (1994) and ‘Elvis’ (2022 film), Srinivas confessed that all these characters had a lasting impact on him.

“All these memorable movies have an emotional drive. I would scream, laugh out loud, or I would express my love with a shrill whistle while watching these characters on the screen. But when it comes to film dynamics the films that are wanted to do are quite different,” he smiles.

The ‘Alludu Seenu’ actor had no qualms of being launched in Telugu film industry at the early age of 19. He felt that it was a blessing to be launched at the early stage so that he could plan his career further when he had reached 30. “Now that I am 30, whatever dreams that I have had to chase become easier. I wouldn’t have seen success had I been launched at 30. When will I see a thousand crores film?,” questions the actor jocularly.

The ‘Rakshasudu’ actor said he would personally like to be an actor. Explaining the dynamics and economics of movie making, he said aforementioned films could only bring the larger-than-life image in the hearts of audiences.

“‘Dhoom 2’ by Hrithik Roshan could not garner the craze as much as action flick ‘War’? Take the case of ‘Mathru Devo Bhava’ for instance in Telugu, it might have struck an emotional chord with audiences back then and still continues to be one of the most revered works in Telugu. Another commercial film during the year might have earned 10 times more money than ‘Mathru Devo Bhava’,” he adds.
