Sandal Soap Storm: Tamannaah Caught in Regional Row

Tamannaah Bhatia is not new to brand endorsements, but she recently struck gold for signing the endorsement of the Karnataka state government-owned Mysore Sandal Soap. She signed a deal worth 6.2 Cr rupees for a considerable period. This is a step forward to promote the soap in Northern markets. However, as soon as the news came out, the regional factor caused a controversy.

The opposition parties and some Kannada groups are not happy with the decision that Tamannah will be the face of the product, since she is not a Kannadiga. They are opposing the choice of selecting a non-Kannada actress for the brand endorsement.

Karnataka is not new with the regional sentiment controversies and the latest opposition is adding pressure on the government to change their decision.

If the authorities surrender to the pressure, then, it will result in the government backing out from the deal, landing Tamannaah into a potential loss.
