Tollywood: Producers Lack Unity Even After Pawan’s Warning!

Andhra Pradesh deputy chief minister Pawan Kalyan clearly and officially warned the Telugu film industry bigwigs that individual appointments will no longer be entertained. The government’s expectation was that a delegation of the film associations would formally meet the chief minister. Even after an year of the government’s formation, no association turned up at the CM’s office. On the top of that, the exhibitors single-handedly decided to shut down theatres which however was dropped later.

Now, the need of the hour is the unity among the Tollywood bigwigs. The government of Andhra Pradesh also thinks that the film industry is in the control of ‘Aa Naluguru’ and they are the brainchild of the recent theatres closure planning. In order to prove that it is wrong, the producers must come forward to amicably find a solution. The other film associations, like the chamber, the producers’ council, and the artistes’ association, must sit together to pacify the already hurt government.

But, what we are currently witnessing is the lack of unity among the producers. The issue actually began on the exhibitors front and the decision makers are the producers and distributors. The issue is about the losses the exhibitors are facing. However, the producers are divided which is clearly evident.

Soon after Pawan Kalyan’s office released a press note, producers Suryadevara Naga Vamsi and Bunny Vas posted tweets with their opinions. While other small producers reacted in confusion, producer Allu Aravind addressed the media to clear the air that he is not a part of ‘Aa Naluguru.’ Instead of all that, the producers can actually come together to address the media and put an end to speculations.

On the other hand, there is an indirect blame game going on in the film industry. Some say that Dil Raju and Suresh Babu were behind the theatre shutdown planning while some say that they are a part of ‘Aa Naluguru.’ So far, they are mum about these developments.

As of today, there seems to be no major move from the industry’s side to pacify the government of Andhra Pradesh. It is common that such things happen when the expectations does not match. But at the same time, these things will not last long. Pawan Kalyan is also a part of the film industry’s eco-system and he knows each and every producer and technician leading the film associations. All it needs is a simple dialogue and the efforts to better the ties between the parties.

Already, the film industry suffered during the last government and they cannot afford to continue the same for four more years. So, it’s time to call for unity among the producers for the greater good which may benefit the film industry.
