Following an outrage over Kamal Hassan’s comments on Kannada language, Superstar Shiva Rajkumar defended Hassan saying that the latter always spoke highly of Kannada and has a great admiration for Bengaluru city.
Rajkumar told mediapersons that Kamal always spoke with pride about the city. However, the actor also highlighted the Kannada language needs consistent support.
Shivanna said he didn’t clap for Kamal’s Kannada language but he did for Kamal saying he was “Shivanna’s Chinnappa”. “Someone edited and spread misleading news.
Shivanna addressed the controversy in his soft-natured style when there has been continuous anger from people across Karnataka for Kamal Haasan’s remark — “Kannada was born out of Tamil.”
It may be recalled that Kamal made the statement during the audio launch of Haasan’s upcoming film ‘Thug Life’. Although he claims to have made the comment out of love for the language, it sparked severe backlash in Karnataka State with various pro-Kannada groups and political organizations demanding the ban of his film Thug Life.
While a few fans criticised Shivanna for not confronting Kamal during the event, he maintained that Haasan’s intentions were not targeted to offend anyone. His admiration for Kannada culture is genuine, Shivanna said.
His remark appears to be balanced as he tried to calm down tensions over the issue. He further tried to maintain that he has deep respect and commitment towards Kannada language and culture. So pulling Shivanna into the controversy and blaming him will never lead to a solution. Shivanna is known for his good reputation and playing the blame game, some of his fans wrote.
