From noted director Teja to creative filmmaker Sukumar, Nandini Reddy to Ashok (Pilla Zamindar fame), successful directors to struggling filmmakers, everyone these days is focused on creating web content only. We are hearing that more and more production houses are also looking forward to making content for the web.
In the wake of theatres getting locked, as audiences are watching more and more content on OTT, now our filmmakers are thinking that it is time to shift focus to OTT apps. But then, the moot question they should ask themselves is, will this mad rush works or creating new content works?
When compared to the content Bollywood folks are making for OTT apps, we are nowhere in the reach. Nandini Reddy’s Gangstars or Krish’s Masti’s, the so hyped web series made by Telugu folks, are merely usual stories with routine twists and drama. But other content on OTT apps is so spine chilling, thrilling, fresh and thought-provoking as well. So, first, our makers should focus on creating content that will have appeal, rather simply rushing towards OTT offices.
Until and unless our directors create something like Breathe, Sacred Games, Four More Shots Please, Inside Edge, Made In Heaven or The Family Man, audiences will not be finding their creations worthy. In order to succeed in OTT space, our filmmakers should focus on fresh ideas and thoughts.
