Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has issued a strong directive to develop Hyderabad as the capital of Indian cinema. In a recent Ministerial Sub-Committee meeting on Film Industry Development, Bhatti called for the preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) to transform Hyderabad into a major film city that attracts talent from across India and abroad.
Highlighting current challenges faced by filmmakers in Telangana, Bhatti noted the difficulties in obtaining shooting permissions from multiple departments such as police, fire services and municipal authorities. To resolve this, he instructed officials to implement a single-window clearance system under the Film Development Corporation (FDC), appointing a dedicated officer to coordinate all approvals swiftly.
Bhatti also emphasized the importance of encouraging film shoots at various tourist locations across the state to boost tourism alongside the film industry. He raised concerns over the high prices of food and other items at cinema theatre canteens and directed officials to take immediate steps to regulate pricing for the benefit of the public.
The Deputy CM asked for an update on the 50 acres of land previously allotted to the FDC and requested a detailed report on its current status in the next meeting. He also suggested inviting the RCS Committee responsible for the welfare of cine workers residing in Chitrapuri Colony to the upcoming discussions.
Regarding the Telangana Gaddar Film Awards scheduled for June 14, Bhatti urged the organizers to conduct the event on a grand scale, making it a historic occasion. He instructed officials to invite prominent figures from the Telugu film industry as well as notable cinema personalities from across the country.
The meeting was attended by Ministers Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and Duddilla Sridhar Babu, FDC Chairman Dil Raju, Home Department Special Chief Secretary Ravi Gupta, Information Department Commissioner Harish, FDC Executive Director Kishore Babu and other officials.
